Get your loft back as storage without flattening the insulation. Raised boarding on a legs system over full-depth insulation, fitted by a joiner, with ladders and hatches if you need them.
Most lofts are boarded the wrong way: chipboard screwed straight onto the joists, squashing full-depth insulation down to the joist height. Compressed insulation loses most of its performance, and boards laid directly on the joists trap moisture underneath. You end up with a cold house and a damp loft.
We fit a raised floor. Loft legs or a timber sub-frame lift the deck above the full depth of the insulation, with an air gap for ventilation. Then 18mm tongue-and-groove loft panels, screwed down. It's a joiner's job, and every ScotTherm fitter is a time-served joiner, so it's done properly.
Legs or sub-frame system over full-depth insulation. Any area from a walkway to the full loft.
Aluminium or timber folding ladders, enlarged or insulated hatches, draught-sealed.
LED loft light on a switch by the hatch, fitted by a qualified electrician.
If your loft is under-insulated we bring it up first, so the boarding goes over a finished job.

Priced per square metre of boarding plus any ladder, hatch or lighting work. A storage platform around the hatch is a half-day job; a full loft is one to two days. We quote in writing after seeing the loft, and if the insulation needs topping up it's itemised separately so you can see the cost of each part.

Not without losing most of your insulation's performance. Joists are typically 100mm deep and the insulation your loft needs is much deeper than that. Boarding straight onto joists compresses it and can cause condensation under the boards.
A raised floor on a proper legs or sub-frame system rated for the load is fine for normal household storage. We'll advise on weight if you're planning anything heavy.
Yes. Folding aluminium and timber ladders, plus new or enlarged hatches with insulated, draught-sealed doors.
No, but the insulation top-up underneath it often can be. We'll check.
