The 1930s semis and bungalows around Ayr, Prestwick and Troon usually have good-sized lofts that are perfect for storage once they're boarded on legs rather than straight onto the joists.
We cover Ayr, Kilmarnock, Irvine, Troon, Prestwick, Largs, Cumnock and Girvan. More about our work in Ayrshire.
Most lofts are boarded the wrong way: chipboard screwed straight onto the joists, squashing the insulation down to the joist height. Crushed insulation loses most of its performance and boards sitting on it can trap moisture.

★★★★★The whole team were a pleasure from initial quote through to installation. Friendly, professional and left no mess behind. Delighted with our loft insulation, thanks!
★★★★★Scot-Therm did an amazing job of our cavity walls and loft insulation. So helpful, quick, and hardly left a trace. Could not recommend them enough.
Yes. We fit raised loft boarding, ladders and hatches across Ayrshire, starting with a free survey.
Not without crushing the insulation. Joists are usually around 100mm deep and the insulation a loft needs is much deeper, so we raise the deck on legs.
A storage area around the hatch is usually half a day; a full loft is one to two days.
Yes, and we'd recommend it. The top-up may be grant-funded if you qualify; the boarding itself isn't.
