Stone cottages across Mull, Islay and Cowal have old timber roofs that need to breathe. Sheep's wool handles damp west-coast air better than most materials and keeps working when it takes on moisture.
We cover Oban, Helensburgh, Dunoon, Campbeltown, Rothesay and Lochgilphead. More about our work in Argyll & Bute.
We use ThermaFleece British sheep's wool. It's soft, safe to handle without the itch of glass fibre, and treated against moths and insects. Like wood fibre, it's breathable: it can absorb moisture from damp air and release it again while still insulating, which suits old roofs and timber floors.
It costs more than mineral wool. People choose it for older homes, for a natural material, or because it's pleasant to live with in a loft that gets used.
★★★★★Really impressed with Scottherm Insulation. The installers were organised, tidy, and clearly took pride in their work.
★★★★★Clean and professional outfit, solid communication from start to finish and we are delighted with the finished product.
Yes. We fit ThermaFleece British sheep's wool across Argyll & Bute, in lofts, floors and walls, with a free survey first.
ThermaFleece is treated against moths and insects during manufacture.
It insulates to a similar standard for the thickness, costs more, and is breathable and pleasant to handle. Mineral wool is the cheaper, everyday choice.
