Dormer bungalows across Aberdeenshire and the granite villas of the West End often have attic bedrooms with little or nothing behind the coombs. Insulating the slopes and dwarf walls makes them usable in winter.
We cover Aberdeen, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Stonehaven, Banchory and Ellon. More about our work in Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire.
A room in the roof loses heat through five surfaces: the sloping coombs, the flat ceiling above, the dwarf walls, the gables and the eaves spaces behind the dwarf walls. Most are bare or barely insulated.
Then plasterboard, ready for skim. It's joinery from start to finish, which is what we do. More on room-in-roof insulation.
★★★★★Scot-Therm did an amazing job of our cavity walls and loft insulation. So helpful, quick, and hardly left a trace. Could not recommend them enough.
★★★★★Really impressed with Scottherm Insulation. The installers were organised, tidy, and clearly took pride in their work.
Yes. We insulate attic rooms, coombed ceilings and loft conversions across Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire, starting with a free survey.
Usually the sloping ceilings do, to insulate between the rafters properly. Sometimes we can insulate over sound plasterboard at the cost of a little headroom.
Two to five days for a typical attic room, depending on size and how much needs stripping out.
