Skye has some of the highest heating costs in Scotland: almost every home is off the gas grid on oil, LPG or electric, winters are long and wet, and the housing is a mix of traditional stone and rendered croft houses, 1970s to 90s council and self-build bungalows, and newer timber-frame homes. Older croft houses often have no floor insulation and thin or missing loft insulation, so those two jobs give the fastest payback on the island.
Skye and Lochalsh addresses qualify for the island and rural uplift on Warmer Homes Scotland and Home Energy Scotland funding, which covers the extra cost of getting installers out. We batch Skye jobs together so distance never adds to your quote.
Every job is surveyed first, quoted in writing, installed by approved fitters and inspected by a senior member of the team before we leave. We don't use spray foam on domestic properties.
Top-ups and full installs in Knauf Earthwool or ThermaFleece sheep's wool, to the depth your loft needs. More on loft insulation.
Borescope survey, bead fill, colour-matched sealing. Extraction and refill of old material. More on cavity walls.

Households in the Highland Council area can access Warmer Homes Scotland, the Home Energy Scotland grant and loan, and ECO4 while it remains open. If you're on a qualifying benefit, on a lower income, or your home is rated EPC D or below, there's a good chance some or all of the cost is covered.
Grant-funded work is installed by TrustMark registered installers, and we'll help with the application. Full details on insulation grants.
