Red and blond sandstone tenements in the West End, Southside and Dennistoun are solid wall on the wettest side of the country. A wood fibre lining insulates them without the damp problems foil boards can cause.
We cover Partick, Shawlands, Dennistoun, Drumchapel, Easterhouse, Castlemilk, Pollok and Bearsden. More about our work in Glasgow.
Wood fibre is made from timber offcuts pressed into boards and flexible batts. It's vapour-open, so moisture can pass through it and dry out, and it can take up and release moisture without losing much of its insulating value. That's exactly what solid stone and older brick walls need.
It costs more than foil-backed PIR, and it's thicker for the same result. On stone, it's worth it. See a Skye croft house we did in wood fibre.
★★★★★The whole team were a pleasure from initial quote through to installation. Friendly, professional and left no mess behind. Delighted with our loft insulation, thanks!
★★★★★Scot-Therm did an amazing job of our cavity walls and loft insulation. So helpful, quick, and hardly left a trace. Could not recommend them enough.
Yes. We supply and fit wood fibre insulation across Glasgow, with a free survey first to check the walls or roof are right for it.
It's one of the best options. It lets the wall dry through the insulation, where foil-backed boards can trap moisture against the stone.
Yes, usually more than mineral wool or PIR, and it's thicker for the same heat loss. On old stone buildings, the lower damp risk is why people choose it.
Grants fund the measure, such as internal wall insulation, rather than a brand of material. If you qualify, we'll tell you what's covered.
