Almost every Caithness home heats with oil or electric, so using less energy is the biggest environmental gain. Natural insulation on the older crofts does it without trapping damp.
We cover Thurso, Wick, Lybster, Castletown, Halkirk and Dunbeath. More about our work in Caithness.
The most environmentally friendly thing insulation does is cut how much heating you use. The second is lasting: breathable materials on old buildings avoid the damp problems that lead to insulation being ripped out. That's why we never install spray foam in homes.
★★★★★Scot-Therm did an amazing job of our cavity walls and loft insulation. So helpful, quick, and hardly left a trace. Could not recommend them enough.
★★★★★Really impressed with Scottherm Insulation. The installers were organised, tidy, and clearly took pride in their work.
Yes. We fit recycled-glass Earthwool, wood fibre and sheep's wool across Caithness, and recommend the right one for your house at a free survey.
It depends on the house. Wood fibre and sheep's wool are natural and breathable; Earthwool is mostly recycled glass and very efficient. The best one is the one that suits your walls and roof and lasts.
We don't install it in homes. It can trap moisture against roof timbers and is very hard to remove, which is why many lenders won't accept it.
Yes, if you qualify. Grants fund insulation measures, and we can often use natural materials within them.
