A modern trussed loft with the original pink insulation flattened and patchy after years of settling. A new layer of Knauf Earthwool across the whole loft, out to the eaves and up to the gable wall.
A trussed roof with plywood sarking and a blockwork gable, and the original pink mineral wool lying between the ceiling ties. It had done its job for years, but it was thin, flattened in places and nowhere near the depth the loft needed.
You don't need to rip out old insulation that's dry and clean. You measure it, then add what's missing on top.
Existing depth checked across the loft, cables and fittings located, eaves ventilation checked clear.
Knauf Earthwool rolled out over the existing insulation to bring the loft up to the depth it needed, laid tight with no gaps between rolls.
Pushed right out to the eaves without blocking the airflow, and tight up against the gable wall, where cold spots usually get left.
Cables left on top where they can be found, fittings kept accessible, hatch area tidied.
The old pink layer at the front, new Earthwool over the rest.
Out to the eaves and up to the gable.
