There are several different Government and local authority funded grants available for commercial premises run by small businesses in Scotland during 2025.
This blog will breakdown some of the different schemes available, with information on which type of organisation qualifies, how to apply and amount of funding your business can expect to receive.
ScotTherm can currently install grants awarded for loft and cold roof insulation, which covers areas such as roof eaves or the eaves under the sloping part of your roof in the walls if your loft is converted.
Grants and loans are available for up to £100,000 via Business Energy Scotland, who provide the most widely available funding for small business in Scotland.

Business Energy Scotland Cashback Grant
If you are small to medium enterprise (SME) who is considering installing insulation that is classed as “eligible equipment” you can qualify for a cashback grant up to £30,000.
*Your business can claim 75% of any costs for energy efficiency measures of up to £20,000.
* 75% of costs towards any renewable heating products such as air source heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar up to £10,000.
Various insulation measures including loft, underfloor, cavity wall, internal wall and external wall insulation are covered as energy efficiency measures.
Which measure(s) you qualify for is based on what is more of a priority, which is determined after you make your application and a site survey is completed.
CARES Community Building Fund Grant
For community organisations who are not-for-profit the CARES community building fund is specifically in place to help reduce your energy costs whilst reducing carbon emissions.
This includes community organisations, charities and faith groups such as:
*Churches and places of worship.
*Local community centres and halls.
*Public halls and community hubs.
*Local sports and social clubs.
There are however some limitations to the CARES scheme grants, as they are often only available if you invest in solar panels and / or an air source heat pump which is not always feasible or affordable for not-for-profit organisations.
CARES Community Building Fund Grants for Not For Profit
Scottish Local Council Energy Efficiency Grants
Certain local council authorities in Scotland provide grants for small businesses looking to make energy efficiency improvements.
These grants differ in various factors including the amount of funding available, criteria to qualify and which types of energy saving products they are available for.
Almost every if not all local councils who offer funding provide grants for small businesses looking to upgrade their insulation.

*Falkirk Council Energy Efficiency Fund.
*Glasgow Council Green Business Grant.
*Stirling Council Premises Improvement Grant.
